Recently picked up this 50 cal. for an investment. I have been searching pictures of the centennial mountain rifle from Browning and have not seen many with pretty curl like this one. Anyone have pictures of their Brownings out there? Just wanting to compare the wood in this one to others.

I’ve never seen curly walnut, although a lot of real nice figure but never tiger stripe

That looks more like "claro walnut", not black. Its beautiful for sure

This is a special edition. Not the standard one. Mine had straight-grain walnut. Stock cracked, three mainsprings broke. One guy bought remaining stock of spare parts, but it's been years since I ordered parts - don't remember who that was. Killed lots of deer. If memory serves, the one you have was offered in a fitted case. Enjoy.

According to my book on Browning firearms the Centennial Mountain rifle was made in 1978 marking the centennial of John M Browning's father's ( Jonathon Browning ) death, 1000 of the standard grade and 1000 of the higher Centennial grade were produced .
