Hello All,
There is alot of discussion on this forum of crowning ML rifle barrels. Is it applicable to smoothbores? I have a Pedersoli Brown Bess and the crowning on the muzzle is a little sharp and it shaves off material from both my delrin and hickory range rods. Would it be prudent to smooth the crown so this doesn't happen anymore?

If it is that sharp, I would say yes. You can "break" it with just emery cloth under the pad of your thumb and gentle pressure while you twirl your hand around the muzzle. It don't grow back so don't get all gorilla on it. You'll only need to smooth it - not remove a lot of metal.
