I am the fortunate owner of this .62 smoothbore that I recently purchased from custom builder Mike Brooks. I spent part of this last summer working up a load for PRB. I purchased both .595 and .600 balls and variety of patches of different thickness for testing. I have been shooting rifled barrels for many years, but am new to smoothbore. At first, my patterns were everywhere on and off the target. After a few trips to the range and more experimentation, my groups have now tightened up considerably. :) Two things I noticed compared to shooting the rifled barrel: 1) The smoothbore requires more experimentation. 2) It is much more sensitive to patch thickness. Two items mentioned only a zillion times here on the Forum. In fact, if I use 17-18 thousanths pillow ticking, I get the same groups with both the .595 and .600, with the former a little easier to load. She likes 75-80 grains of FFG. Anyway, thanks to all of you on this Forum for your experienced teachings. I feel it probably saved me some real time. She now shoots as good as she looks - on the bench. Now, if "I" can just shoot as good as the gun. :haha:

That's not a Chambers kit, and that's not an officer's fusil. Where did the headline come from?
The Chambers officer's fusil is third gun down following my directions given along with the hyperlink i.e.("Here ya go. Click on the third gun down.")
