I have only found #11 caps locally and they are too big got my brand new Pietta 1858 NMA. I want to order some #10 Remingtons but I've seen mixed reviewes on how they fit.

So I have to order them mail order....how sure are you guys that they'll fit properly?

Thanks

I have found that #10 caps to be a little too tight and #11's to be a little too loose. I have one revolver with a stiff, heavy spring that pops #10's with out a problem but my other revolvers can't pop them on the first hammer drop. I could spend a bunch of money on ampco nipples but I just pinch the #11's which works out just fine for me.

I got a Pietta 1858 Remington for christmas.

I went to Gander Mountain in my area and got the #10 Remington caps...they fit great...work great.

Untill you replace the cones, you could squeze the cap slightly to give it a slight egg shape & then install the cap onto the cone, that will keep the cap in place till it is exploded from firing.

Get Ampco replacement nippes for # 11 caps from House of Musket and use # 11 mag caps I find I get better accuracy with mag caps, or just pinch # 11 caps and put them on your # 10 nipples I do this alsoand it works great!!!
