The patch kind of defeats the purpose of the minnie ball, easy quick loading, with reasonable accuracy. The PRB takes longer to load and on a dirty rifle can cause loading problems but is generally more accurate. For PRB in a rifle designed to shoot minnie balls you really have to play with the ball/patch combination to find what works best in your rifle.
