I'm wanting a English Civil War gun, I don't have the budget or patience to get one made from Leonard Day or someone else. I know India guns get a lot of flak by some, praise from others, and that it's not 100% historically accurate, but I wanted to see if anyone had any experience (good or bad) with this gun.

English Lock Fishtail Fowler

You're asking the right question(s) Salty!

I have a somewhat similar India-made gun, from Loyalist Arms who may not be carrying these anymore (used to show English and later Dog locks), in a rack elsewhere and found it heavy if only due to the almost certainly teak oversized stock. Not in the shooting rotation, I had no other complaints other than maybe a overly fancy muzzle which TVM's doesn't have. Sparks fine. Would never load it heavier than the rule of thumb for a pistol personally...

Now, I also have an India-Made ECW horse pistol with an early English lock. Be careful...

Salty,

I have two pieces from Loyalist Arms, a matchlock and an English lock, and I'm very pleased with both, given their price and off-the-shelf availability. That said, you may find they need some adjustment. I've had to replace the scouring sticks on each, the trigger pull was a bit stiff on the English lock, and I had to adjust the pan cover on the matchlock. But both shoot true, and I can demo the matchlock all day without a single misfire. Don't expect perfection for the price, but I find them quite adequate.
