How many would give up all the things we have in this century and go back to around 1800 or so ,
somewhere thereabouts,
to stand in line and put our x in the ledger and shake Fremonts hand and with one hand and receive our rifle and kit with the other,
to give up electricity ,clean running water, toilets, our highways , our vehicles , all the food we get from the grocery stores, medical Care.

No more City council Members , no more county commissioners , no more TV,
no more monthly bills, no more politicians, no more political arguments,
No more traffic to navigate to go get food, no more fat mouths and liars.

Collecting and shooting antique and antique style muzzleloaders are a bit of an escape from the insane world we live in today.

But there are accounts of people who , while out one evening driving on the highway or out for a walk went through some fog and emerged in a different century, when the fog lifted they were returned to modern times.

There's an enormous number of missing people in this country and in the world,
it's likely that a lot of these people have tragically met with a bad end,
But I wonder if some of them went back in time, realized what had happened , Kept their cool, and just decided to avoid the fog and stay there instead of coming back to this place the rest of us hafto live in

None of us are tough enough.

Too many of us would be dead long before we reached our present age. Heart attacks, strokes, cholera, etc. I suppose life might be good while it lasted but those folks had their own problems and might have wished they had lived in an earlier age.

Yes, but I like history from a distance. No anesthesia for that tooth pull? No antibiotics? X-rays? Central heat? I'll take nowadays and appreciate the olden times from a distance. BTW, I think we know what the old timers would do about the City Council members!

I don’t watch news, very little tv, rarely have radio on in Jeep. Ride horses, shoot black powder and wear buckskins most of the time. Camp as primitive as I can. That’s as close as I can get without getting scalped.

I'm good where I'm at. Nice to "what if", I like hot chow, showers, coffee without grounds in it, and cold beer too much.

While we live in a world full of controversies and lots of things piss us off, it is a very rare instance when we must dodge a spear, sword or bayonet.
Muzzle loaders are my hobby. Something to do on Sunday afternoon. Then it was survival, and meat on the table.

Wife and I did that sort of.
We left Hollywood for the wilderness of North Idaho. lived like we were 18th century.
that foolishness lasted about 2 years. still off grid but have all the things we need for comfort. too old and broken down to live that life anymore.

I heard one old man say that the best thing about the “good old days” was that they’re over!

Fun to think about the "adventure" and what not, but when you can die or get laid up by things like a splinter, or a drink of water I'm gonna agree with that elder fella.

You're all scared you're going to die.
don't you see you're going to die anyhow!?!?

Stay here and die in comfort if you all want I'm leaving the first chance I get !!!

Been there, done that. After 41 years in rural Alaska we moved to Southern Arizona so we can in fact die in comfort!

Not to mention no toilet paper.
The stench and general unsanitariness would be apalling when around most other people.
The prevailing state of feminine hygeine would keep me celibate.

I have often wondered about how They kept clean.

I worked for a guy one time that grew up on a small, hard scrabble farm, but finished high school, joined the Navy and swore never to go back to that life. He said there were no "good ole days", only different times and he wanted none of them. He liked his TV, central heat and AC, running water, and indoor toilet.

With all of my metal parts i wouldn't be here!

Some medical problems still exist even with the advancement of modern medicine. Some if us would have really suffered back then.

I'm 79 now and would have died about 70 years ago. Nowadays is better in a lot of ways, not so good in others.
