Since I finished my first rifle I seriously miss working on it... While I likely won't start on the next until winter, I would like to get it planned. I am looking for a 36 caliber with similar quality of the Chambers I made. Not sure on the style yet, so open to suggestions for that as well.

I know Kibler has a SMR that fits the bill, but enjoyed the challenges of that the non-CNC Chambers had to offer. Not that I want a FUBAR project!

What suppliers should I consider?

Thanks!

What sort of style are you looking for? I think the SMR are the most beautiful of American rifles. Those were common in smaller caliber. The Ohio rifles give SMR a run for the money in the most beautiful American guns. You can go with German silver mounts. Although silver mounts did get on southern guns we associate them with iron.
Should you feel froggy golden age Pennsylvania guns are impressive and oft in smaller calibers.
Trade rifles like Leman were also made in small caliber. With Leman you get to do something real out of the ordinary. Construct on plain maple then artificially striped.
I don’t know if this is a problem for you but it is for me, after getting a chocolate sundae that I really enjoy I still kinda regret not getting the vanilla.

I would definitely lean towards an SMR as that style is very appealing, but I am not sure about that drop at heal. Those types of drops do not fit my head well.... I had a good deal on a Henry Golden Boy that a buddy won, but I couldn't comfortably get on sight. The Ohio looks to have a bit less drop and might work. Also like the Transitional Kentucky, but that looks quite similar to the Marshall rifle I built. Not that it makes it out of the running.

What’s that Queen song ‘I want it all, I want it all, I want it now”.
My dream gun cabinet would have everything from a matchlock to a rolling block.
Whoops, did I say matchlock? Well then I would want a hand gonne. And rolling block? Well I would then need a sharps and a burnside.
And since were in nevernever land I have to wish for the time to shoot them.
Track of the Wolf, pecotonic, sitting fox, TVA,log cabin, Dixie gun works, jedidiah Starr will all treat you right and get you good parts.

Bedfords and Emmittsburgs also fit the bill for smaller caliber guns. I just built a Jacob Kuntz styled Lehigh with an A-weight in 38 cal. A bit under calibered, but dang it if it's a thin svelte looking gun, which seems to be the trait you're after. You also ought to consider a Bucks. Another swoopy- looking svelte gun design.

It gets hard to decide doesn't it?

Or you're frustrated with all the things you got wrong. For some schools, like Lehighs, they say it takes about 5 of them before you get it "right".

I'm with you on "1 of each" That's a given really. The question is within it, or, put more properly; "what to build NEXT?"

I thought after my first build that I'd be done. Nope. I'm now on my third. My .32 is based on the Andrew Verner style, which IIRC is in the Bucks county school. I liked the look, plus it is one of the few that comes in a left handed version from Pecatonica river.....Being a south paw has some disadvantages.
