    Proofing

    I always froof load a new rifle. Usually double load. If you have a Dixie gun Works catalog they have some reference material in the back of book that might be helpful in proof firing. :redthumb:

    Spliting a Round Ball

    We use one of those ball spliters in our competition also. We shoot from 15 yards. It's lot's easier than you think. A 62 cal. sure has the advantage over smaller bores. :redthumb:

    I just use my main powder horn. Can't see carrying unnecessary gear. :redthumb:

    barrel fouling

    You might be using too much powder. If you have access to a chronograph, try starting at 50 grains and work upward to achieve max results. Thai is a nice monster load tho for that 54 :redthumb:

    What size dovetail does Traditions use?

    Most common on US made guns are 3/8". Occasionally you'll find a 5/16". You get into the foreign made ones, they are metric. All dovetails are from the widest or bottom part. :redthumb:

    Brass vent liners are junk!

    Why would you want to remove it if you just installed it? :: Brass touch hole liners last a good 500-600 shots. :redthumb:
