Grilled Coyote

We have had alot of yotes around my farm so I shot two last week. I have a friend who does alot of cooking over a cast iron pot fire. He uses the pot as a fire pit. I took the coyotes over to his place to help me skin them out to make hats out of and we decided to try some of the yotes backstrap. We had a couple of deer backstraps on the fire so we put one of the yotes backstraps on the fire to. We let it cook for awhile and then we worked up enough nerve to try it. It tasted alot like the deer backstrap. I would not have known any different if I had not been cooking it. I was just wndering if any of yall have ever tried yote? I have heard bobcat is good if cooked right.

Don't see why not.
It's only a modern day issue of not eating dog. Several cultures still do. And the tenderloin is a prime cut off any mammal.
Never tried horse either, but I understand it's common in some areas of canada ?

If you have ate Elk, you've tasted Horse meat! I can't tell the difference. You guys can eat all the coyote's you want, but don't yelp about it on nights with a full moon! :rotf: :rotf:

PS...Coyotes carry all types of unhealthy micro organisms and other scary stuff!

Nope,never ate horse,mule,donkey,cat,dog etc.
Never had the need to....Always had beef,chicken
and fish.....never ever considered eating my dog.
Although there was a time he considered eating
me.....we have got past that.There was a time
in a country far away I did eat stuff that I
didn't know what it was I ate.
After 50+ plus years there are still odors
that take me back there.Honestly I have no idea
why!But it happens, and thankfully not often.

I had a cambodian in my squad that ate a coyote I shot in the Adirondacks. You would think I gave him a sack of gold. I tried to tell him it was not a dog. All he said was "it look like a dog it a dog".Then he smiled and screamed "HOT CHOW" :surrender: Somtimes I really miss Duong he was such an optimist.

They eat a lot of dog over here in Korea and love it, think I'll pass. I am not squeamish at all and honestly will eat about anything you put in front of me, one of my favorite soups has big globs of pork blood in it. But I will pass on dog, if you go into a restaurant over here that serves dog, no joke, the restaurant smells like a wet dog. :redface: :barf: Chris

Heck I've eaten lotsa stuff most folks wouldn't eat...don't see how a dog or yote would be any different. I'm a big boy and I hate to be hungry.

i have ate many a wild critter,stuff that would make most men hurl up thier inards. but i would'nt eat a coyote at gun point. :surrender:

Okay, now I'm really going to work at getting some "what a dumb sh_t" comments from some of you guys. What's this about not wanting to eat horsemeat?!?! I worked for a Japanese company in my career in high tech. I was taken out one lunchtime in Nagano, Japan, with a surprise of the sushi that was served. I love sushi (okay, rednecks, trash me out), and got surprised with a couple of new ones....whale meat and horse meat. Guess which one was better???? Horsemeat.

From what I saw ate in that part of the world,
a yote would be a fine meal.I can see Duong's

Sorry to say,so do we! But,then for the most part,we are not general table fare. :hmm:
