this powder was given me when I bought my .54 cal thompson renegade years ago.

no Idea why it won't go boom????

If percussion pull the nipple and fill with good powder.
Try to clear the channel so you can get as much in as possible. Might set it of or plop it out like dry ball.
 
I’ve read that Pyrodex doesn’t age well. However looks like Schuetzen BP behind it. Try putting 10 grains of that in first, then complete the charge with the Pyrodex. If it doesn’t go boom then, you have corrupted powder. The Schutzen sb ok.
 
Put it outside during high humidity days.

Extra moisture works wonders when trying to reconstitute old powder.

Powder should be kept in a teepee. Or a tent. Pole barns open to the elements work especially well.
