What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Got to thinking about needing to dust and check the long guns on the round rack for any signs of rust and dust them off. All were good and I really need to make some smoke with at least a couple. However the leaves on the decks took precedence so I dug out the leaf blower and cleaned the leaves off which were about a foot deep. I haven't shot the Mowry in a coons age, maybe tomorrow after we go and visit my MIL at her assisted living facility, shes 94 and doing well.

I like the gun rack if it turns would also be good in the safe. Was it made or purchased?

I’m sitting a tree right now. Brought my SMR, and had a doe with a nervous demeanor skitter by a few hours ago. She looked back behind her several times and I thought, “Here we go!”, but her boyfriend never showed.

Getting ready to cone the barrel of my .54 Woodsrunner. All while the wife and daughter are running around trying to clean the house for the visit of the prodigal son coming from Texas in a couple weeks. He won't notice it, and they are distracting me with their fussing around.

The Doc wishes he was elsewhere now, but his car is in the body shop because the Dumbass Doc turned it onto a semi-rim we use as a burn pit at the gun club. With only 7,200 miles on it!!!

Pulled the lock on my Traditions Trapper while cleaning. Purchased in 2019, the arm on the sear has a bend to it, never noticed (or looked for) it before. Sent a photo to Traditions and asked if it was by design or a defect in the metal. I’ll let the forum know once a response is received.

Soldered a front sight onto the Enfield P61 musketoon I got from @BigSkyRambler. I went with a reproduction trapdoor carbine front blade/base/pin from S&S. I removed the factory rear sight and replaced it with an adjustable Williams peep sight for an in-line CVA. It fits the contour of the barrel pretty good. I was able to utilize the hole in the barrel from the sight spring screw. No more burying my cheek into it for things to line up, and the sight picture is AWESOME now.

Worked on the C.B. Turner combo gun, getting ramrods built and fitted. For the shotgun side I used a tip that Muzzleloader Builders Supply sells for dragoon sized pistols. I think they turned out decent. I wish I knew how they looked originally. They were missing when I bought it.

I also spent a while scotch-briting the shotgun bore. It really has come a ways. When I picked it up it wouldn’t shine at all. It’s reflecting light pretty well now.

Had my 54 in the deer woods for a long time,saw nothing but woodpeckers,will hit it hard tomorrow.Can kill a buck and doe ,tomorrow is last day of muzzleloader.

cleaned off the bench a little. drilled holes in the bench top to hold the chisels, gouges, scrapers that i use the most.
tested a bunch of stains on a cut off. none of them makes me feel warm and fuzzy. guess i will have to wait for the tannic acid treatment before i decide.
have some small parts browning.

Today I finished my .54 Woodsrunner. The learning experience from the .50 Colonial helped it turn into a much better finished product. I couldn't be happier with it. Here they are together. The Woodsrunner is a dramatically different rifle in hand compared to the Colonial.

Very unmilitary! But a boy's got to do what a boy's got to do. I wouldn't do that to any of my Enfield's, but I like what you have done. Kudos. Would certainly make for a more natural cheek weld, and I bet that post sticks out like a beacon. Nicely done.
