Today I got my iron hooks in the mail and finished my wall display. The wood,I think is maple, routed by my father in law years ago. Since I inherited it, i decided to use ir for my display because he loved guns and wood working.
I used 4 coat of tru-oil, my first time. I liked how it looks so stopped there.
The finished pic really doesn't show the shine.

Working on a new video project. Mrs BPMS printed this bear. It is 30" wide & 40" high. I mounted it on a 3/4" thick piece of plywood & 2 pulleys.

A friend gave me an idea from a shoot he attended a few weeks ago.

1. They had to prime & shoot the bear coming at them on a pulley system. Shoot at the tongue for a score while it is moving towards you at break neck speed..!! .
.
2. Run about 25 feet - pick up a throwing knife & throw it at a target to stick it for a score.
3. Run another 25 feet & throw a hawk at a wood block to stick it for a score.
4. Run another 25 feet to set a bear trap ( maybe..... if I can find one to use )
5. Finally run 25 feet or so to start a fire with flint & steel.

This event is timed.
Going to put the frontier garb on and film a challenging video next week after I find everything needed.
This should be fun to try if I can find a camera person to follow me quickly.
Of course...I'm challenging the camera man to try it too...!!

removed another half cord of wood from the current build. even built a fire in the wood stove with the shavings!
its coming along i guess. when i got tired of making wood dust with a rasp i started laying out metal to make the trigger guard and trigger plate/trigger. the diminutive Haddaway lock kind of gets lost i think. guess tomorrow i will reduce the plank to dust some more. i am thinking this is going to be my last plank build.

Never say "never", so far it's looking top notch. Hang in there and grind away. Got snow yet?

Another range trip with the Colonial in .58 smoothbore. Starting to get somewhere with this gun. Tried various bareball loads with no success last time out.

Switched from a .570 to a .562 ball with drill cloth patching, Easy loading and pretty accurate best group was below. All of my groups were left, not sure if it was the sights or the way the sun was hitting the brass front sight.

50 yards
3fg swiss
mink oil
drill cloth patch
