Birchwood Casey web sight says NOT FOR WOOD, yet the can says its safe on gunstocks? Their customer service says don't let it touch the wood, and is sending me a bottle of stock wax for my stock. I what to use it to wipe my guns down after hunting season. I don't want to ruin the wood!

I've used Barricade since way back when it was called Sheath. I sling it around like I'm slopping the hogs, and have never had any damage to my oil finish or varnished wood.

Been using for long time and not slinging it but does get on the wood from time to time and didn't hurt it whatsoever! Good stuff! Dan.

I have some that is labeled "sheath" as well. Great for metal, and never seems to hurt the wood, just would not want to let it penetrate end grain like around lock mortises and make the wood soft there.

I think "NOT FOR WOOD" really is talking about applying it directly to bare wood.

I've never seen it harm gun stocks with a finish on them.
