Traditions 1861 springfield?

Hello, i saw several online stores get 1861 springfields back in stock, labeled under traditions brand. Are they any good? Can someone who has owned or handled one in the past give me the rundown on them?

Traditions 1861's are made by Chiappa/Armisport. I've had an Armisport for years, they are a decent gun. It really depends on what you want one for, and what your expectations are. They aren't bad shooters when you develop a good load.

Agreeing with Trot, they're decent guns. No issues out of the box, and parts are available. One downside that I've noticed is that the half cock is usually very low (the hammer is barely above the cone). For range use, that's not an issue, but if you're using it as a reenactor weapon, that makes getting a cap on a bit slower than if you actually have room to access the cone.

They're decent and I wouldn't sweat the "low half cock" for live fire.
