there is nothing wrong with a good solid derringer for farm use.

Snakes and critter,s and other near do wells can be dispatched with a Derringer with a good shot load. I how there is other,s unwilling to admit it...mention Derringer contorted face.head tip like a Dog inquiring....it,,s not that hard to figure out...

I agree. I only have revolvers for BP, but that's what I usually have on me around the farm.

I much prefer a pocket revolver such duty.
Deringer gives me 1 shot, the pocket pistol gives me 5 and it is much more comfortable to hold and shoot.
