Below is the shoot schedule and dates for the Texas State Championship in Brady, Texas this year. The State Championshiop has something for everyone. There are first timer shoots, matches for young and old alike, shotgun, pistol, musket, smoothbore, rifle, benchrest-Light/Heavy, X-Stick, Offhand, Ladies matches and more that I am probably forgetting about. There are lots of 4-H young adults there shooting also at this State Championship too. And just a reminder, there is also camping, both with and without water and electricity. We also have his and her bathrooms and showers, being the family!!

Also there is another (PRIMER) shoot in Brady on May 2,3,4 and it is called the Muy Grande. Good food, good shooting and good folks.

I want to remind all who can make the shoot in La Coste, Texas also this year. The dates are April, 26,27. It is an (80 target) Sillouette shoot with 40 steel targets being shot each day. The distances are 25,50,75 and 100 yards. The shooting is done all offhand and I can tell you it is a BLAST  For the La Coste, Texas shoot, Contact Ed Mertins at [email protected] or go to their website at WWW.AMLGC.COM

So if any of the new guys on the Forum from Texas can make it or anyone else here on the Forum think that they can come down to shoot, just give me a shout when you get there.

Take care

Looks like a lot going on. I will check with some of our shooters to see if they want to make a match or two. Time to get the tent out and come and watch. Have had Bill McGinnis shooting with us for a few matches. Do you know him. Usually has his wife Wilma with him. Think he is going back to Kentucky this week so won't see him again until next year.
Is the camp set up primitave or modern ok? Fires in camp or eat in town.
Thanks for the list of events and I'll see what I can do to get to some.
This month have to go watch the Mother-in-Law while kids are on extended cruise. Next Month have a grandkid on the way if all goes well. There are a few problems with baby and may have to go sooner hope not.
Thanks Fox :hatsoff:

If you get a chance to make the Brady, Txs shoot or any of the Shoots in Texas go. You will never be treated better have more fun an meet some Damn fine people. Not to mention all the good food.

We made friends down there that we will always remember. We also shot at the Red River in Electra,Txs. This was another out standing time.

We went to shoots in 3 SW states this year and it was all great but we vote Txs. number 1. It is 1,800 miles one way for us to make the Brady Shoot so you fellows that live in that part of the world should make it down and visit Rabbit,James, Hannet and others on the forum and many who are not.

We all so made it over to the Gulf and did some fishing with Ralph and Shirley Miller. The Millers are well know fine BP shooter down that way.Plan to visit the Brady Shoot..

Would be great to see yall come down.

Both Brady and the La Coste shoot have primitive and hookups and you can choose to eat in town or cook out at the camp. Both places have showers and toilets.

If you can get in touch with Bill and Wilma they can tell you all about Brady. I seen them a few weeks back when they were at the March shoot we had, both are terrific folks.

Would be a great shoot especially if you can drag a few friends down with you. Stay out there with us or in town at any number of motels within 5 miles of Brady and La Coste.

rabbit I might be wrong and this isn't to start a fight over NMLRA but I think (cause I kept my membership up because of this) you have to have current NMLRA and NRA cards. Or thats the way the paper work came to me, if ya dont belong do join just to go to this one you'll have a blast. Fred :hatsoff: (all you new guys from TEX should make this one !)

Morning Fred,

The cost to come and shoot is a $5.00 registration fee and if you are not a member you can pay a $15.00 membership fee at that time also. Then what ever matches or aggregates you wish to shoot in will be additional to the membership and registration fee, not alot of money to have a great time and compete in the State Championship. The knowlege gained by others there at the shoot is priceless and well worth the trip.

Some of the folks we shoot with are folks who have set and broken records in the National shoots and have a wealth of knowlege and years of experience to share. I have a funny story about me asking people questions during the championship shoot while they were in the middle of a relay :cursing: I will share it one of these days.

No not at all. I just don't understand what happened to your camera. I thought I looked more like Robert Redford than that. Its was a real shock to find out I was not a little blond guy?

Now you all know, Gabby Hayes did have a son. :rotf:

Thanks Rabbit
Redwing

Ok rabbit this was on a old entry that said must be NMLRA and NRA member to shoot. Thanks. Fred :hatsoff:

IS there a website with more info like directions to the camp site or whatnot? We may try to make the trip from Waxahachie.

Send a PM to: JOHN L. HINNANT.

He has good write up for people going to Brady for the first time along with directions to the range.
