i've used the watco danish oil with walnut tone on several modern rifles & really like it. gives a nice low-gloss finish with very little trouble. not the most weather resistant finish but touch-up is as simple as just rubbin' on a new coat. for what it's worth & have a good'en, bubba.

Wow,

Thanks a ton guys! I printed out this whole string just so I'd be ready. I'll try to start on the wood next spring, so that I won't stink up my basement like I have in the past, working in the winter.

If you don't like the way it comes out, strip it and do it over. You'll get there!

Well thinking of this statement I dove in this past friday. I got her striped down and thined out a little here and there. So far I have stained with mahogany stain and have one coat of the oil on. So far so good. I am happy for my first attempt.

Thank you all for your input, it is appreciated.
Thanks
Ray
