Good afternoon, This weapon has been in my family for a very long time. It hung in my room when I was a little boy. My mom didn’t want it in the living room. I am interested in learning more about the markings and I appreciate any assistance. The “W” on the stock and the proof marks are unfamiliar to me. Also, the group of “B’s” carved into the wood along with other markings. I’m guessing either a soldier or a previous owner did this? Would this most likely be army issued? Thank you, Chris.

I can't help with the markings, but this looks like it could be an 1816 Springfield converted to percussion (definitely a conversion, just not 100% sure on the exact model).

Thank you for the replies. I definitely learned something new. From what I read, this particular model was most likely made between 1835 - 1844, and most were converted. I do not plan on shooting it. It looks great hanging on the wall.
