I have several small cannons. One is an original signal cannon built about 1800-1820 and has a 1" bore. I have fired many times on holidays and it makes quite a bang. Another is from South Bend (Barney's Cannons back when my wife bought it for me.), it also has been shot many times on holidays. When we lived in Indiana kids would come to the house on the 4th of July every year and ask me to shoot the cannon. With about 100 to 120 gr. of bp it makes a significant bang.

Hi Frank

I didn't know you were a cannoneer

Here is a movie of my young assistant firing one of my 6 pounders.

The camera couldn't handle the bang, so watch the iron buck and use your imagination.

I stood as close as I could without being in the frame, reckoned that if it all went horribly wrong it was probably a good idea if I died at the same time

best

Robin

Hokey smokes!

:shocked2:

And here I used to think it was a great treat to be allowed a lanyard yank with the Winchester 10 ga blank-cannon a family friend had at his cottage.

That boy won't hear right until he's 17!
