Well this is the 3rd one across my bench now and gradually issues are being worked out. This 3rd had an already operable cam to open the pan cover, but it is a different model than mine and perhaps a different vintage or later model (??) and they fixed the cam timing issue. There's just no way mine would push open the cam and as is, I had to play with mine to get a 3/4-turn wind.

This lock as received had the operable pan cover and cam arrangement and would get 3/4-qtrs of a turn wound, but had a really weak main spring. With a new heavier spring it sparks, but I need to start making my own as these as small assemblies and they still need even more torque.

Anyways, just a few pictures and a video ... look quick for the spark, lol!

For contrast ... here's an extremely fast wheellock, as made by Brian Anderson.

Greetings,
I like your work and I find your video interesting. There aren't many examples of what it looks like so you can compare to what you are getting. Thanks. Hank

Flint62Smoothie....great engineering work! Interesting how the pan cover flips upwards upon opening, as opposed to horizontal. Could be the angle of the lock......Pistol lock? Your pyrite did not crumble..could be that the drop-off edge of the cover is thin and almost rounded and/or a great piece of pyrite!
