It looks nice.

Would those sights make it a smooth rifle?

I have cross-dominant eyesight, and was never very good with a smoothbore until I got one that had rifle sights on it.

Oh, and Happy Birthday. :hatsoff:

It is a 20 gauge. It shoots great. First time out with it we were hitting clay birds off hand standing at 25 yards with PRB. At 75 yard sitting we hit an inch high with PRB and inch low with bare ball until finding the sweet spot and taking out a few clays. Hit one for three on the trap range which is ok for me considering the learning curve.

I am off eye dominant as well. I thought it would be considered a smooth rifle; however, the style is distinctly of a fowler. If it looked like a rifle in stock and furniture it would apparently be considered a smooth rifle. John Cook, formerly in northern Ohio, made it and said it was rather common for fowlers to be fitted with a rear sight for frontier use.

The piece just fits me well. I'm 6'3" and the 44" barrel and larger stock are comfortable.

After about a dozen days at the range since I got it, I can say the first time accuracy was no fluke. I was shooting 100 yards today and getting predictable groups with the strong cross winds. My other BP guns may collect dust for awhile.
