Hi guys, I have an InvestArms Hawken Kit from Cabela's that I've been working on for a few months. The first patch box cover that came with the kit was terribly pitted as I filed it down to meet the wood. They sent me another one and the same thing happened. I wonder if any of you guys have ever had the same problem or could offer any suggestions on how to deal with it. I really like the patch box covers on the T/C Hawken but I don't know if it will fit the inlet area on my stock. I was wondering if any of you knew whether or not it would fit. Thanks for the help, guys!

The T/C patchbox won't fit. The Investarms has a piercing and is a bit larger. I haven't had any problems with voids in the castings on my Investarms. Maybe try the replacement route again. Or you could fill the void yourself. It only takes an inexpensive torch setup and some brass brazing rod. I don't think a propane torch gets hot enough. I have a small, inexpensive MAP/O2 torch that works well. If you have a friend with an oxyacetalene setup, he could fill the voids for you in a couple minutes, or a welding shop could.
