So, after much thought, I elected to redo the stock and barrel. The stock came out blotchy, and where file marks were left,, these only accumulated stain yielding less than pleasant results. Yesterday I carefully removed the old finish, a four hours profess. Then I proceed to re stain with homer dangler reddish brown. This time around there was but one little area that required a touch up, a file mark that was not visible in the white. The entire stock now has a nice color evenly distributed. Next is oil, I will be going out momentarily to rub on the first coat of tru-oil.

In addition, in lieu of leaving the barrel grey, i washed and decreased the works dried and applied some Birchwood casey super black. The first past on the flat was smooth and even, proceeded by passing the remaining flats, the barrel was rinsed and dried. It looked awesome. No longer are the Hotspots visible, it was evenly blued. I did do one additional coat with the same application process, with the addition of 3 in 1 oil being rubbed on. She looks great.

Off to apply the first coat of oil, will send photos when the final coats applied and more after final assembly!

Best

Ryan
