I ordered a full sized Pietta 1851 in .36 caliber this weekend. Talked to Dixie today and it'll be two weeks till the order is processed. I have the sheriffs model in brass frame and same caliber. I hope this gun is as nice as the guns I've received recently as Pietta has given a pretty good account with the last two I've purchased. Have to wait though but glad I found one.

I have 8 Pietta 1851 Navy .36 "type" revolvers, 6 that were produced in the ~2002 and later date era and 2 that are pre-CNC guns (AZ/1990 and BH/1996). I am a parts changer and lean toward creating Confederate "copies". The Pietta 1851 Navy .36 revolvers are pretty much like LEGO guns: one part fits all. The only exception is that prior to 2015, all of the gripframes were of the Large "tail" variety ; from 2015 onward the gripframe style is the "non-tail". As a 3-piece gripframe assembly, each will fit on any CNC Navy frame, to include the Pietta 1860 Army and the 1861 Navy, but the parts are not interchangeable between gripframe groups.

I hope you catch my affliction!

Regards,

Jim
