i have an 1860 piette army the loading port under the bbl will not accept conical s i have a 200.ge lee conical mold and they will fit if you fight it enough .just wonder if i use a dermal and open the port will this make the bbl have a weak spot it only needs a minuet amount to clear the conical?also if the conical had a heal it would fit ok is there a bullet on the market that has a heal on it ? :v

thanks for the link that would work :v but still would like to use my own cast also have over 200 i made for an 1858 Remington they worked fine in it .but i guess you got a do what you got to do could melt them down and make r/b

I have "eased" the grips on my Pietta 1858 by removing some of the metal on the grips just back of the trigger guard with a file and a Dremel.

If you just take off a tadbit from the arbor you should be OK, but then I don't have any experience doing that and you are definitely on your own there. :idunno:

If it works let us know. If it doesn't work let us know.

You can do it and you'll be fine. Just do enough to make them fit and rounded off to look nice and not catch anything.

I opened up the loading port on my 1860 Colt for conical bullets. It did not weaken the barrel at all. I did mine with a ball nosed end mill in a milling machine. I did not have to remove much material at all. It could be done with a pencil grinder by hand but be careful not to let it slip. It may mess up the appearance of your revolver. I then used some cold bluing to touch up the machine marks. You cannot tell it was modified.

I watched the clip and I would go ahead and seat them on the table to save wear and tear on the revolver. There was not all that much diffrence in the energy. 5 jugs of peneration seems enough to me. Geo. T.
