Old And New Pedersolis Interchangeable?

I have a 25 year old pedersoli Mortimer shotgun. I ordered a new rifle barrel for it. The barrel fit in the stock and the wedges lined up. It is a flintlock. The touchhole was way off between the location of the pan and the new barrel. I still use it and it works fine but if it was a percussion the hammer would not line up with the nipple/drum at all.
I have a 1993 twelve gauge, the barrels of which do not interchange with my 1976 twelve gauge, vice versa. The wedges are in different places and the barrels do not "drop in", so I didn't examine it any further.
