Looking at getting into the smooth bore/shotgun loaders. I figured this to be the best place to start. I currently have an old one that has been handed down to me but it will probably be just a wall hanger unless I can get it fixed. What would be a good starter that not over 1000.00. I know it might be hard to find one under a grand but its worth a shot. I currently have three caplock muzzleloader rifles so I am familiar with blackpowder at least.

For a $1000 you may find a smooth bore “ in the white” in the classified ads.

Then there always Pedersoli guns to consider too.

For a couple hundred more Tip Curtis is your Man!

Tip usually has a good selection in the rack in his Tennessee location.

You gotta’ love ,no waiting list and a quality built gun.

SMO,
Does tip have a website?

No Sir, Mr. Tip is an Old School Guy, he has email but no web site.

It’s best just to give him a call and tell him what you’re looking for, I bet he has one!

I think you may have found Tippys web site....

His Son, Unless Tip has started one recently that I’m unaware of.

Which is very possible. LOL

You can get a good pedersoli under 500.00 Also a Pietta for about the same. Some of the newer Italian shotguns are using 1/4 x 28 nipples. I have both and all are excellent shooters. Mine are sxs 10 and 12 bore. Dont be in a hurry, look around.
I have an old Navy Arms TandT made by Pedersoli. Excellent for trap and turkey thus the name T and T.

Its very likely I found Tippy's site. Anyone know of anybody in Indiana that repairs sxs blackpowder shotguns? The one handed down can be fixed but has to be a pro at it. The under rib needs put back on it.

Check NMLRA Muzzle Blasts classifieds. Rod Gates in Missouri . Gun builder also an NMLRA regional firld rep. Listed in muzzle blasts

I cant seem to find anything on Muzzle blasts on the web. All I can find is older stuff like it has quit printing. I would like to get a subscription if its still available. Does anyone have a link. Thanks for all your help guys.

Yes I did. Thank you. In order to subscribe to Muzzle blasts I need to be a member. So I will be doing that here one of these days soon.

Yep, That's Tippy's site.

The pic of him & his Dad in his Dads shop , kinda' gives you a sneak peek at some of the eye candy available!
