I have a new smoothbore in 16 ga. Before, with my 20, I was shooting a skychief load using 80 gr of 2F and 80 gr of #6 shot ( about 11/4 oz). Does anyone use a 16 for turkey? Should I keep the same load or increase powder and shot. Suggested volumes
?

A few turkeys have fallen to my more modern style 16ga with 1 1/8 oz #6. If your 20 ga did the trick, the 16 ga should have no trouble matching or besting the 20 ga loading. Test for pattern and find what your smoothie likes for a load and go introduce it to a turkey bird. I don't have a 16 ga BP smooth bore but 16 ga is my favorite. :thumb:

Best I can do at present.
