It's that time of year and my own rut had me eyeing a new woods knife. It's one that can also adorn most belts for historic reenactments.

It's the new Morakniv Exclusive Forest 277, handmade in Sweden. With a 4" long, 1/9th" thick, laminated carbon steel razor sharp scandi-ground blade and dark brown 4-1/4" hardwood handle surrounded by brass it is a thing of beauty and a joy to hold and handle. The warm leather sheath keeps it secured at the pommel. Its lineage draws from the classic and ubiquitous Scandinavian profile.

And now one's mine!

I have to admit a love-hate relationship with Mora's. I have a few, and appreciate their many qualities, but periodically I remember that the ones most of us have are basically Ikea steak knives with injection-molded plastic belt sheaths... and the novelty is worn off.
