With my wife's recent illness, there has been a lot more indoor time than usual. This has led to a bit more stitching than I usually get done in a winter.

Recently there was a version of Moby Dick on tv, and I really liked the ship carpenter's hat...

Then there was the need for a new pair of pants. I decided to reinforce the seat, and add some pockets. And yes, I am a belt and suspenders kind of guy!

depending on time period could be a fiddlers cap (basically a greek fishermans hat without the ornimantation on the bill) or forager type cap.
 
In the 1830's this was variously know as a wheel cap, a mechanics hat, a round hat or just a cap. It seems to be widespread in most northern European countries and in the U.S. Bingham shows them on riverboatmen, and Kurz drew mountaineers with the same hat.
