I finished my Hawken today. I bought it from a friend partially built. I used Maple Magic on the stock. I am going to let the metal age naturally.

It is my second build. I still have a lot to learn! Now time to save up for the next one.

Very Nice !! Lovely piece of wood . . What is Maple Magic? Do you have a link or info about it?

Thanks for the replies.

I applied maple magic once and it was awesome. I neutralized it and the color went away. I reapplied and did not neutralize. It turned out darker. (no surprise)

The finish is boiled linseed oil and spar varnish (oil based) mixed 50/50. Dries pretty fast.

The finish on the metal is great! (Well the whole thing is, but it caught my eye.) What method did you use to get that effect?

Nicely done sir :hatsoff:

I did not apply anything.

The parts are 25 yrs old so they had some age to them. I knocked the casting marks off and used a wire wheel.

I am going to let it age naturally.
