I am new to this forum. I have finally finished a semi finished cap and ball Remington 44 kit I bought in the mid 1970's from Dixie Gun Works. I used to get their catalog in the 70's and lusted over flint lock rifles. I settled for the revolver which I could afford at the time. Covid gave me the time to get the revolver done finally.

Recently I have been looking for another project. I found an old percussion rifle. I was looking to gain some knowledge on it.

Welcome from Denton County.
If you are anywhere close to here I would be delighted to have you come out and shoot percussions with me.
That's the best way I can think of for a new white smoker to get in the groove!

Howdy from Maryland! I literally live 10 minutes south of the mason Dixon line so I think howdy is appropriate! I spent a couple years in Texas back in the 70s while in the service. I still have friends there. Love the state and the people. I always had a good time there. Anyway, hope you find everything you need here for BP shooting. There's tons of build threads you can gleen info from.
Got a question on something you're working on? Just ask! People have been fixing, building shooting BP guns for hundreds of years and the history is part of the craft. We got some history buffs to!

Hi Griz44,
I am from Italy but I spent almost 2 years in Tioga not so far from Denton...I have good memories of those times, beautiful places, beautiful people... If I remember well there is a shooting range near Sherman, it was an open space and some shooters use to play with muzzleloading too.... Have fun...enjoy your State....
Merry Christmas to all readers....
Andy
