My usual method of removing rust from firearms (which usually are or have been blued) is to simply boil the rusty metal in water and wipe away the loosened, softened residual rust. Leaves rust blue where the rust spots were.
yea, me too..l and in my case evaporust did cause a dark grey....I guess one could call it silver... but i'll never use it again or recommend it for other reasons so a mute point
