Okay, Newbie is back. I just got back from the NMLRA Western Shoot and hit a leather supplier tent at the vendor area. Saw a fairly large stock of mule leather in his stock. I bought a smaller piece, just to try it, but would appreciate anyone's feedback on it as a good/bad leather. I haven't heard anybody mention it before.

If veg tanned it should be like horsehide , forms well for making knife sheaths and it tough.

It is very tough. Farriers aprons are often made from it. And saddle horn wraps.

if its anything like horse leather you done good! I had a warshirt made from horse and let me tell ya that stuff was tough!
