Why…it’s a sickness. Really just buying up some NOS inventory from a friend. Hard to pass up cheap guns ……. even Indian made ones.

The Jaeger was missing the oval inlay in the wrist. I made one today. I am not good at inlaying and though it is the worst metal to wood fit on the whole gun, it looks good to me!

Use a furniture repair crayon to fill any gaps

I have some black, but I will probably use a reddish mahogany sawdust and glue mix Inletting is fairly close and i dusted it with saw dust and it filled nicely. I can make a sawdust slurry to make it permsnent.

Don’t knock guns made in India. My brother has one and he loves it. He shoots his guns so his is no wall hanger. Those guns would be welcomed in my stable.

I picked up a couple of Potsdam muskets and a 1795 Springfield from him. All missing locks and both Potsdam’s have some wood damage.. Wood is beautiful though.

Indian Teak that hasn’t been stained or painted. One has a little sap wood but is not soft or spongy. Teak can be quite nice if it is solid without too much or any sapwood.

The one Potsdam will need a fairly major repair to the bottom of the buttstock adjacent to the butt plate. I will probably then have to stain the sock to blend in (hide) the repair.
