I did a bit of work with shot loads in my Pedersoli .50 rifle with shallow 1:48" rifling. Paper shot cartridges with felt o/p wads worked surprisingly well. The paper seemed to prevent leading while the rifling sliced the paper into numerous narrow strips for reliable opening. Dunno if it was the paper or the moderate twist, but it shot even patterns, not doughnuts, although they opened FAST - 3/4oz of #7.1/2 was usable to only 10-15yds depending on the target size & number.

Good luck with your loads.
Joel
