19th Century
The 39 3/4 inch .48 caliber smoothbore barrel with sighting rib and tulip muzzle. Inscription at breech. Signed brass lock. Brass furniture. Full stock with paddle butt.

A FINE EDO-PERIOD JAPANESE SNAP-MATCHLOCK TEPPO, ca. 1780: Octagonal, 38", watered-steel, pin-fastened, .65 caliber, smoothbore, iron barrel with straight muzzle, block rear sight and silver fore-sight.

This replica is patterned after one of the KUNITOMO (a village near Kyoto, once a firearms center) masterpiece models manufactured and used in the 16th and 17th centuries.

Features a one-piece Japanese cherry fullstock that has been finished with a medium reddish-brown stain and satin finish. Stock is 53" in length, with 2 1/2" drop and 7" trigger pull.

Barrel is browned, 50 caliber, 41 1/2" long octagon smoothbore (.500" diameter). Traditional Japanese style open sights. Brass furniture, single trigger, 54 3/4" overall length and weighs 8 3/4 lbs.

Uses matchlock fuse (available from Dixie). Load with 45 grains of FFg black powder and patched .490 round ball.
