Looking for the expert opinion on this one. I've recently fell in love with the pre-flintlock guns. I'm trying to assemble the evolution of firearms display. I want to shoot them often as well, so I'm not as concerned with it being original or 100% correct. I found the gun below on Clay Smiths's site. It looks like a beautiful gun but I'm not sure at the current price? Is there a better route to go such as having Lodgewood build one or is there anyone else that are building nice matchlock guns?

The gun looks a fair enough build, Jd,
but a light gun like that never used a rest.
A Musket required a rest, when the guns could weigh up to 19 or more pounds, (up to 23 pounds as far as I recall.)
I didn't look at the price, but would presume you are paying plenty for the rest you don't need.

All the best,
Richard.
