Then they'd be Water Moccasins, and they're poisonous...
Yeah, and if ya don't do the beads right they'll "rattle".

tuffy - Excellent work there. I guess its not impossible (for some) to do, just "seems" impossible.

Thanks!! sse

tuffy:

It looks as if you used the "Lazy Squaw" stitch on your bead work, 5 or more beads per stitch, in a row to form a pattern...

That's what I used on my pipe-bag I posted on the fire starting kit section, only I used pony beads...

Here it is again...

Musketman... I used 11/0 beads on the mens mocs and 10/0's on the ladies pair. I'm in the process of makin' a fully beaded knife sheath for my patch knife. Should have it done in two or three days. I'll post it when it's finished. I may have to go to pony beads if my eyes keep goin' down hill like they have been. Them 11/0's is gettin' hard ta see. That is a nice lookin' pouch. Are you doin' yer own skins or are ya buyin' em?

This is an elk pipe bag I bought at the Log Cabin Shop, in Lodi, Ohio back in 1983... (see links page for their web site)

I use pony beads because my eye sight is BAD at best, them thar seed beads are too small for my liking, fat fingers and bad eyes do not a beader make of me...

I used sinew to string them, hows about you?

Tried using quills once, until I stepped on the one I lost in the rug and sunk it into my arch... :: :boohoo:

I juat use a linen thread that I rub down with pure beeswax. Makes the thread last a lot longer and keeps the tangles out of it. Sometimes hard to put thru the eye of the needle. I tried one o' them big eye needles but I didn't think much of them. They'd be ok for bigger beads but hard to get thru the smaller ones. Kinda like trin' to pound a .54 down a .50 bbl. ::

Thanks! Great site. I'll have to find out how "musketman" missed it. :: ::

musketman - OK, you got me.

I've looked at many of those web sites, but not that one. Those web sites you put up can keep me occupied for quite a while. It helps to have a good fast connection, though, because some of the products are displayed on pretty sophisticated sites. Amazing stuff.

Regards, sse

No big deal, but thanks for using the links page...

Now, what is a big deal is this fine knife and sheathe made by our fellow member DEADEYE...

Great job DEADEYE... :applause:

Thanks, Musketman. One day I'll learn how to post a picture.
I've succeded in getting a picture on photobucket but haven't figured out how to get it from there to here yet. ::

Thanks, Ironwood for all your help. I even got the avatar to work. Let me try this again and see if I remember how to do it. this is a York county, Pa. rifle amd pouch and map horn I made some yrs. back.

Musketman... here's that beaded sheath for my patch knife. Still needs pony beads and tin cones. The old patch knife has an antelope horn for a handle. ::
knife_1.jpg

Tuffy, Are you sure that's an antelope horn? They are black and just a hollow shell like a cow horn. I think that's a Deer antler. ::

Deadeye... I started to tell you that I had shot the 'lope myself, and I did. But I got to thinkin' about it and this morning I went out to the shed and guess what I found. A 'lope skull with the horns intact. I can't remember who gave me the skull that the knife handle came from. Maybe I found it. Anyway, these antlers are very close together. Around 2 1/2" apart and standing straight up out of the top front of the skull. At lest the remaining one is. Thank you for settin' me straight on the handle. Must really be gettin' old. They say the memory is the second thing that goes. ::

Yep, Memorys gotto go 2nd so you won't be remembering the
1st thing that went. :winking:
It that antler was black it would just about pass as an antelope horn, shape is close.

Deadeye... You are sure enough welcome. Glad I could help!

That's some mighty fine looking equipment you have there! The scalp knife you posted in the photography forum looks great too.
