back in the '90s, Muzzleloader featured a product review of a finely turned t-handled rifle tool. I now have need of such a fine tool, but can find nothing other that mass-produced hatchet varient from ToW. Anyone know of what I speak, or where I can find something similar?

Reddoge:
It's simply a multipurpose cleaning tool, similar to the pickering tool, or the triangular sergeant's tool for the bess. Here's the one that ToW sells, it's Okay, but I'm looking for one that's more suited to a rfle, and less mass produced.

Thanks SK for the link, the items on that site are in the ball park. In fact, they're probably preferable, as they'll fit more easily in my bag and anything similar to the above picture.

BAh. All I find is that hatchet thinghy and Civil War "Enfield" tools.

What do you want it to do or have?
Hey Stumpkiller, I just noticed the last part of your post. To answer, I'd like it to at least have a tow worm, a ball puller, and a turn-screw.
A knapping hammer might also be nice.

So what you want is an 18th century Swiss Army Knife :rotf: Bill

Skagun - Check out Smiling Fox Forge (smilingfoxforge.com). They've got what you're looking for, I think. Tow worm, knapping hammer, screwdirver, all in a "T-shaped tool" they claim was copied from an original 18th century tool. $45 will get it in yer pouch.

Marc, that's it! THANK YOU!
I've been at the Smiling Fox website many times before, but I've never seen this, I don't know how I missed it. This is EXACTLY what I was talking about.

Sir, I owe you one :hatsoff:

Skagun - Glad to be of help! Coincidentally, I've been thinking of picking up this very tool the past few weeks or so. So when I read your post, the light bulb went on. Hope it works for you. Let us know. I'm especially interested in the turnscrew part for use on my flintlock. The one sold by TOW was designed specifically for a Pedersoli musket, I believe. I didn't want to take a chance on that one.
