The Wandering Bull from NH has a youtube video on making eastern woodland moccasins. They are easy to make and can be adjusted to make lil smaller or bigger. I made 2 pairs so far. One set has 1/8” crepe runner on bottom so no slipping.

Wet and stretched the leather, dry two days, cut patterns, added insoles (used barge cement), punched holes and laced up. Added extra holes to lace further up than wandering bulls video but I like them.

I’ve heard of pre-stretching, but I think it may be more important to place the long axis of your moccasin pattern either parallel with the spine of the hide, or exactly perpendicular to it. The leather will stretch some as the moccasin conforms to your foot, but it will stretch evenly. If you place it at an angle, stretching will be uneven, and it may not look or feel as good on your foot.

Best regards,

@Notchy Bob thanks for your advice. I was trying to maximize the hide and placing the pattern for least amount of waste.
My daughter had the same comment about pattern placement without any prompting from me, said it would not stretch evenly.
She makes some clothing (made me a westkit and shirt) and is learning to work leather.

Tip, when I make those, I put a running stich around the toe prior and draw it up a bit not a lot just enough to see it starting to draw together on the leather, as to pucker the toe prior to do doing the pucker on the top of the moc, it makes a nicer looking toe it doesn't need to be much perhaps four or five stiches on either side of the center line will do it. this will do away with the point on the toe of the finished moc, and help eliminate the toe stretch when they get worn in. They look good, nice job.
