I have done inleting on bench type guns in the past, but now confronted with muzzle loader barrels and the keys. How tight are the keys to be. Do they have a certain amount of (lets say pull) to hold the barrel in or are they more neutral?
I have a rifle that you can push in or out the keys with your fingers.
Thank you,
David

Well, it’s unlikely they will slip out on their own so you should be fine. If the barrel cannot be moved appreciably in a vertical plane I’d not worry. If it wiggles then I take the barrel out and place the keys in the loops and tap the loop with a wooden or rawhide mallet till the key is fairly tight. That should do it.
