Hollo muzzleloader community,
I have recently inherited a black power rifle and was wandering if anyone knew anything about it.

I ran my hand over one of the stocks on one of his rifles for sale.

Reminded me of a wash board. Convinced me I would not mail order from him.

There are two TVM. Tennessee Valley Muzzleloading and Tennessee Valley Manufacturing (this one is Jack Garner).

I have had a Jack Garner flintlock rifle for almost 30 years and it has been an excellent performer.
The washboard effect may be the result of scraping the stock rather than sanding it in the finishing process. Many original guns were scraped because sandpaper was not available. I like that type of surface treatment.

Could very well be, did not think of that. Th color/stain and finish on his rifles were nice, just was strange to me. At any rate thanks learned some thing. His prices normally are very fair.

When is the revision on your book due out?

I only dealt with jack once and that was the ordering of a stock blank with barrel channel and ramrod hole. He was in the middle of packing up to go to an event the next day but took the time time to prep the stock and mail it. Just seemed like a decent guy.
