What kind of rifle kit is this one going to be?
An English fowler in 16 or 20 bore, 44" barrel. The kind the English exported to the colonies by the thousands.

Mike, nice to still have the change of seasons, anyway we used to use automotive bondo in a 2x4 with a slot cut in it with a table saw. Johnsons wax works fine. No need to waste money acra-glass. Ask Mr.Hash the man that can do it with nothing.

Yep, Bondo will let go with a little heat, I use it all the time to hold parts whilst engraving. I wonder if accraglass would do the same? :hmm: I'm guessing it would....

Well, I guess I will be scrounging up some more things to sell to fund my fowling piece addiction. :shake:
I'm down to old newspapers and toenail clippings now. :surrender:

HAH! wait till you see the Germanic fowler I'm designing. 1/2 or full stock, 38" oct/rnd barrel in 20 bore or up to .58 rifled...gonna be cool!

I ended up giving the barrel a good coat of Bri Wax. I never had an easier time getting the barrel back out of the wood. I'll never use the Blue Goo again. Thanks to all those who gave me help. :hatsoff:

Mike,

Years ago I used to make 3-D models of various parts mostly for auto and truck trim parts. We made the "male" part of the die then poured "WREN" plastics over the part to make the opposite side of the die.
We always used plain Johnson's paste wax applied with a fine camel hair type brush. We never rubbed off the wax layer. I never had a failure on that. The buildup was not a factor either.

Got any pictures on that new halfstock yet?
