Just thought I would post my fusil us ready to lose a little more weight. As of now it is 7lb 3 oz. With no triggergaurd. I will be taking more wood off the rear half of the stick and the entire forearm. I don't expect much weight change since I still have the steel trigger gaurd to install. Oh yeah almost forgot,,I drill and installed my first tang bolt.
It came out perfect. Even space on each side of the bolt at tang and trigger plate. Pics after its done.

I'm not into yhe PC . Don't know anything if it. This gun is a plain Jane all steel 62 cal/20 ga. Flintlock. Is t that what everyone is calling a fussil or fussil dechasse,, or tulle fusil dechasse. If it was fusil fin it would be fancied up a bit. Am I close.

Doesn't make a whole lot of difference to ne ,I build them to suit me. Just wanted to keep this one plain and close to pc.

I just googled up the word fusil.
It is a light flintlock musket.
Now I have to figure out what the definition of musket is.
I have always used the word gun for anything with out rifling. Or fowling gun.
So, fusil de chasse in French means flintlock musket for hunting. Fusil detrait means flintlock musket for trading. Fusil fin means flintlock musket which is finely made.
All pretty confusing actually.

So. Googled musket. It is defined as a light fire arm for infantry. Which doesn't make much sense when referring to all these French guns as they are all civilian models.
Even more confusing.

Ah yes...figuring out the eccentricities of foreign languages and words which have been appropriated into English. What fun! Try a deep dive into the etymology of the word musket. That'll make your head hurt! And if you really are into self-inflicted intellectual suffering try deciphering the difference between musket, musketoon, caliver, and arquebus. Ow...my head hurts already.

Yep, it's all pretty confusing. I avoid all of those terms if I can.
Fusil I won't use, all it means is flintlock smooth bored gun.
Musket denotes a military smooth bored gun for me.
All the rest are silly.
