Flint held his Frolick up Dry Fork Canyon October 27, the eighth one I know of. There were 11 shooters, black powder and some .22 shooting, I don't know why. The top three shooters shoot a special target for winner. That's the three with rifles, Neill on left is just there to show another shooter.

Here I am shooting my .54 caplock Hawken I built, off Jim's deck at the special target. I had the only caplock there, and that was because my two flintlocks, one of them a .58 fullstock Hawken, and the other a 44" x 15/16" .40 Jacob Wigle, are too heavy for me to shoot offhand any more. The big boys kicked sand in my face over this.

The target was propped against the back legs of the buffalo, Jim said it was 100 to 120 yards away. That bullet track in the snow under the tail is the result of using 22 and a half grains of powder in a .50 caliber flintlock- or some such light target load.

Here is Flint and me with the traditional German target. The winner was the shot nearst the head. Mine cut the top edge. Sand in my eyes, you know....

Here are some of the gals. All of them shoot, but only three shot today. Carole is holding my Hawken. We had good chili and wine and visiting afterwards. The next shoot is here the Saturday a week after Thanksgiving. Maybe I'll have my English Sporting rifle done by then, 31" swamped .54 flint, will weigh about 7.5 pounds. Don't like that sand in my eyes.

Glad to see you all had a good time; and glad to see wimminfolk involved too.
The scenery in the first pic would make it hard for me to concentrate on shooting. Beautiful!

Looks like ya'll folks had a fine time!! and thats a passle of pretty women too. What was the temps?.

You see old worn out cowboy boots on fence posts in the Nebraska sandhills, and along one field here in Vernal. That rail fence is just for landscaping, the deer walk around it. I don't know why Jim has those boots on it.

Looks like a good time. Nice to have a circle of friends that share your passion for BP guns.

Here are a few more photos, since people seem to like to see them. Dave shooting.

Gavin. These two are top shooters in our .22 matches.

The 2005 target. I wasn't there, don't know who painted it, but Dave won this one. Don't know the range, maybe as close as 25 yards. He gave me the target. I have to paint next year's target.

We are having a shoot this Saturday and Carole loaned me the 50th Anniversary Flintlock I built her, so I can shoot flintlock.
