Finally got my 36 cal the other day. Want to shoot it. Only problem is it won’t set the caps off. Have to hit them 3 or 4 times. Already made sure the hammer is hitting them properly. Almost think the nipple is a little too big.

most likely over size or weak main spring. if nipple is too large you are hammering them down each try until they are seated. . if you have a drill press or even a drill motor you can sand or file [ fine tooth] down a little at a time until the cap seats as it should.

Tried everything. Finally looked at the hammer and there’s a divot in the centre. Put a drop of solder in there and it goes off every time now.

No idea who made it and no manual with it.
Could use some ideas for loads.

Thirty grains of 3f would be enough. You could load more but it would be wasted. I would start about 15 grains and work up if I were looking for an accurate load.
