Got tons of black powder issues and tons of questions and no clue how to post properly haha. I got a 1851 colt navy 44. I noticed the action binds up when caps are on the nipples, it seems when the hammer rest on a nipple the hammer won’t engage to the last click, meaning I have to pull the hammer back 3-4 times before it finally engages and I can fully pull the hammer. Any ideas?

Sounds like the caps are rubbing on the shield. Multiple causes, but your pistol probably needs a bit of polishing in multiple places to get that action working smoothly without friction. On one of my pistols I had to sand all the cones. Also I use a short piece of dowel to press on the cap to make sure it's seated all the way.

Ya, post your question in the handgun subforum, and you'll get lots of responses. Welcome to the forum.
