These are custom made with the rifle, and the rifle is almost always a heavy bench shooting slug gun.
I can't recall ever seeing a false muzzle on a regular sidelock ML.
Lordie, don't most of us tote enough extra 'stuff' around?

I have an 1840's plains style "sporting" rifle with the holes for a long lost false muzzle.

I've made a few false muzzles. i usually made them by drilling the two holes down the end of the blank and then parted off the piece for the false muzzle. I then soldered a washer the thickness of the parting tool on the face of the false muzzle to bring the grooves back into line. Worked well.
